Driver dies after car rams into excavator at Upper Jurong Rd

An accident occurred on Upper Jurong Road near the SAFTI Military Institute yesterday night (May 23), in which a black car crashed into an excavator. 

Stomper Derrick, who drove past the crash site at around 8.50pm, alerted Stomp to the incident.

In a video taken by Derrick, several SCDF vehicles, including at least a Red Rhino, an ambulance and two fire engines were present.

SCDF officers were also seen attempting to extract the driver from the black car.

The police have issued an official statement on the incident: 

"On May 23, 2017, at 8.52pm, the police were alerted to an accident involving a car and an excavator along Upper Jurong Road towards Boon Lay Way. 

"A 27-year-old male car driver was unconscious when conveyed to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital, where he was subsequently pronounced dead. 

"Police investigations are ongoing."
