Driver picks up passengers without private hire licence, argues with LTA officers when caught

A video showing a private hire driver caught for picking up passengers without a private hire licence arguing with Land Transport Authority (LTA) officers has gone viral.

The clip, shared on All Singapore Stuff, shows the driver telling the officers that he was told that he did not need such a licence during a phonecall with an LTA officer previously.

However, the officers inform him that he does indeed need such a licence to pick up passengers.

The video lasts for two minutes and 30 seconds, throughout which both the driver and the officers continue arguing.

Netizens who viewed the clip mostly slammed the driver.

They said that the announcement that private hire drivers need a private hire licence was well known.

Netizens also said that the driver should state the time and date of the phonecall, instead of simply spoke to an officer.
