How much would you expect to pay for economy rice at a food court?

For Stomper David, $4.90 for rice with three veggie dishes is too much.

David shared how his plans to save money and eat healthier backfired, no thanks to his lunch at Parkway Parade shopping mall's food court on Jan 11, at around 1pm.

The Stomper had ordered white rice with long beans, leafy greens and tofu from Chang Cheng Mixed Rice at Food Republic. It was his first time ordering from the stall.

He said: "I wanted to save some money and be healthier for a day, so I ordered cai png with three vegetables. I was shocked that it cost me $4.90!

"The stall was at Parkway Parade's food court, so it is not some super fancy Marina Bay Sands (MBS) or Sentosa area. I can't believe the meal cost that much.

"I expressed shock and clarified the price with the server, and was told that the price is correct. I did not press too much as the staff were just following instructions."

Asked how much he thinks is a reasonable price, David told Stomp: "I was expecting below $4. I understand inflation is happening but still, $4.90 for three vegetables is ridiculous.

What about the taste and quality of food?

David said: "It's standard cai png quality, nothing special."
