Dad in China takes sick 2-year-old daughter to grave to play -- for heartbreaking reason

Netizens in China have been touched by the gripping story of a father lying in a burial site with his two-year-old daughter.

According to Shanghaiist, the child, Zhang Xinlei, was born with a blood disorder called thalassemia. She has to go for treatment regularly and her family has to fork out huge sums of money for her medical bills.

Over the past few years, Zhang's parents have spent around RMB140,000 (S$28,427) to treat the two-year-old. However, they have since run out of money and have been unable to secure financial assistance from friends or relatives.

Zhang's father now takes her to a grave site every day in hopes that she will not be afraid if thalassemia eventually takes her life one day.

Thankfully, there is now hope for the critically-ill girl. After her story made its rounds online, donations started pouring in from members of the public via a crowdfunding site.

So far, RMB107,000 (S$21,726) has been raised, around half the amount the Zhang's parents hope to raise.
