A customer was inspired by the service displayed by a deaf employee at a Subway outlet in Hillion Mall on Tuesday (Jan 31).

The Stomper shared with Stomp that she visited the outlet at about 5.50pm to buy a sandwich.

"I asked the supervisor and he said that staff could not hear," she said.

"The resilience of the guy was really something we should support.

"He worked so fast.

"I think he can read too because after I figured out he was using hand gestures to communicate with the customers, I typed out 'cold cut trio', a Subway sandwich, on my iPhone and showed it to him to place my order and he understood.

"I think he was also working on a delivery order at the same time because I saw him refer to a receipt while preparing an order."

The Stomper added that she was impressed and that his movements were so "swift and dextrous".

"We should really celebrate those that overcome challenges that come with integrating into the workforce," she said.

"Working at Subway is confusing enough, they have so many options!

"I really wish him all the best!"
