A 19-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly advertising discounted Universal Studios Singapore (USS) tickets and scamming victims of their money.

The police had received several reports about victims who were cheated after making online purchases via a mobile marketplace application. The victims had transferred money to the unknown seller's bank account either as deposit or payment for discounted Universal Studios Singapore tickets, which they did not end up receiving.

The man was arrested along New Bridge Road earlier today (June 20). The police also suspect in his involvement in more than nine similar cases.

Investigations are ongoing.

If found guilty, he could face up to 10 years in prison and a fine.

Members of public are advised to exercise caution to avoid falling for online purchase scams.
