'Confusing' Bukit Timah bus stop? Take a minute to find out more before judging and sharing

This is "what happens when there’s insufficient space for a typical bus stop", said the Ministry of Transport (MOT), in response to a Facebook user's post on May 23, which claimed that she was "confused" when she came across a bus stop along Bukit Timah Road.

Her post read: "Sometimes I get really very confused with the constructions in Singapore. What is that barrier for if the bus stop is built there?

"Maybe someone can enlighten me?"

In a response, the MOT said on their Facebook page that their priorities are the safety of passengers and other road users, as well as the need to keep the flow of traffic smooth.

And this bus stop (40021) along Bukit Timah Road proved to be one such challenge.

MOT said: "Our engineers found an unconventional way to site this bus stop along the busy Bukit Timah Road, while minimising impact to vehicular and human traffic.

"They even factored in a shelter to ensure bus passengers will not be too affected by the rain and shine!

"The result? Delivering bus services to residents and passengers while maintaining reasonable vehicular traffic flow!"

However, while some netizens agreed with the MOT, others thought otherwise.
