Company fined $4,000 for operating unlicensed cold store containing 3,200kg of food products

Alliance Divine Impex was fined $4,000 by the court on Friday (March 24) for illegally operating an unlicensed cold store.

During an inspection of the company’s Admiralty Street premises on July 19 last year, Singapore Food Agency (SFA) officers found that about 3,200kg of meat and seafood products were stored in a unit not licensed as a cold store .

The products, which include mutton and shrimp, were seized by SFA.

Illegal storage of meat and seafood at unlicensed facilities pose a food safety risk.

In Singapore, all cold stores for meat and seafood products must be licensed and are required to meet SFA’s requirements and food safety standards. These licensed premises are also routinely inspected by SFA to ensure compliance.

Offenders who store meat and/or fish products illegally shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $10,000 and/or imprisonment for a term not exceeding one year.
