Stomper Vijayan was touched when he witnessed commuters from different nationalities come together to help an elderly man in a wheelchair alight a bus yesterday evening (Dec 11) along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 5.

The driver had struggled to align the ramp with the pavement because the bell was pressed a little late, the Stomper said.

"In order to save time, other commuters stepped forward to carry the man in the wheelchair safely off the bus," said Vijayan.

Some of them also held umbrellas over the man to shelter him from the rain.

The Stomper added that it was interesting that those who helped were of different backgrounds including Indians, Bangladeshis, and Filipinos.

"I was very touched and impressed with them."
