How useful is it?

A commuter wondered why a rack was installed on a bus when the space could have been used for a seat instead.

Stomper Rhey shared photos of the rack on bus service 62 and questioned what it was doing there.

The photos show the empty metal rack on top of a wheel well.

"The bus company installed this for?" asked the Stomper.

"It is a waste of space. People can sit there. Now it is like a white elephant."

Bus service is operated by Go-Ahead Singapore.

In response to a Stomp query, a Go-Ahead Singapore spokesman said: "The package rack is meant for passengers to store their belongings.

"Installing additional seats in that area instead is not feasible due to its narrow space."
