Chinese man kills parents over cash row, massacres another 17 neighbours to cover up murder

A Chinese man pleaded guilty on Wednesday (July 19) to murdering 19 people —including three children and his own parents.

The accused, 28-year-old Yang Qingpei, reportedly killed his parents when they refused to give him money, reports New Straits Times

The incident happened in remote Yunnan, China.

Yang, then fearing that he would be discovered, killed 17 of neighbours using a pickaxe and escaped to Yunnan’s provincial capital Kunming.

The accused apologised to the relatives of his victims after the act.

The court adjourned on Wednesday noon and the accused is awaiting his sentencing.
