Parts of a ceiling beam and a few sewer pipes above a drop-off point of the MDIS Residences@Stirling at Stirling Road were dislodged and fell onto the ground this morning (Aug 6) at about 7.45am.

A Stomper, one of the students there, alerted Stomp to the incident.

He said: "It was at the drop-off point on the second floor.

"When I reached in the morning, it was already like that.

"I also heard other students advising one another to avoid that area until the situation clears up."

In response to a Stomp query, MDIS said: "Our hostel management team had immediately responded to this unfortunate incident and cordoned off the area immediately to ensure safety measures are put in place to manage this situation. No injuries were reported.

"We conduct regular maintenance for our buildings and facilities and had called in our contractors immediately to inspect the site and conduct a thorough investigation, which is currently in progress.

"Please rest assured that we take our residents/students' safety as priority within the campus ground."
