A car was sent spinning after it hit a van and overturned on the Central Expressway (CTE) on Friday morning (Feb 10).

The 20-year-old car driver was arrested for suspected drink driving and the van driver was taken to hospital.

In response to a Stomp query, Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was alerted to a road traffic accident on the CTE towards the Tampines Expressway before the Pan-Island Expressway at about 6.20am.

"SCDF conveyed one person to Tan Tock Seng Hospital. Another person was assessed for minor injuries and the person subsequently refused conveyance to the hospital," said SCDF.

Videos of the accident also show the aftermath of the accident with the overturned Hyundai Avante on the rightmost lane of the road.

When contacted by Stomp, the police said they were alerted to an accident involving a car and a van on the CTE before the Upper Serangoon Road exit at 6.21am.

"A 67-year-old male van driver was conscious when conveyed to the hospital. A 20-year-old male car driver sustained minor injuries but refused conveyance and was subsequently arrested for suspected drink driving," said police.

Police investigations are ongoing.
