Car engulfed by ball of fire at Beach Road

A car burst into flames at the junction of Jalan Sultan and Beach Road on Saturday evening (Mar 20).

Several Stompers alerted Stomp to videos and photos circulating online of the incident. 

In the clips, several passers-by look on as Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) extinguish the fire.

Black smoke is seen rising into the air above the area.

In response to a Stomp query, the SCDF said they were alerted to the fire at 7.20pm.

"The fire involved the engine compartment of a car and SCDF extinguished the fire with a compressed air foam backpack and a water jet," an SCDF spokesman said.

There were no reported injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
