A car burst into flames in a multi-storey carpark at Depot Road on Monday afternoon (Apr 29).

Stomper Melvin alerted Stomp to the incident and shared a video taken from his home facing the carpark at Block 104C.

He told Stomp that teachers and students self-evacuated from the Appleland Playhouse located at the same block.

"Teachers in the childcare centre at the block were vigilant and evacuated the kids out," he said.

In response to a Stomp media query, the Singapore Civil Defence Force said it responded to the fire at about 4.05pm.

"The fire was extinguished by SCDF using three compressed air foam (CAF) backpacks and one water jet," an SCDF spokesman said.

There were no reported injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
