Canteen operator plied 15-year-old girl with alcohol before engaging in sexual acts during hotel staycation

A 29-year-old canteen operator engaged in sexual acts with a 15-year-old girl after plying her with alcohol.

According to The Straits Times, Muhammad Azril Azman committed the offence at Hotel Boss in Jalan Sultan on 29 Dec, 2016 where he was at a staycation with the teenager and her two friends.

The girls had contacted Azril after they were not allowed to check in as they were minors.

Azril agreed to help them and checked into a room at the hotel around 9pm with alcoholic drinks.

The girls then came over and consumed alcoholic drinks which had been prepared by Azril on the balcony.

One of the victim's friends eventually passed out on a bed while the other left the room, leaving Azril and the victim on the balcony, where they remained until 11pm that day.

The pair became intimate and she performed a sexual act on him, before they progressed to an en suite bedroom where Azril sexually penetrated her with his fingers.

Azril then left soon after.

The girl told her uncle about what happened on 1 Jan last year, before alerting the police three days later.

According to Deputy Public Prosecutor Michael Quilindo, Azril and the girl did not know each other before the incident.

He also mentioned that Azril was an adult that had taken advantage of the situation.

Azril was sentenced to one year and three months' jail yesterday (3 Sep) after pleading guilty to two counts of sexually penetrating the girl, who was 15-years-old at the time.

Azril is now out on bail of $10,000 and was ordered to surrender himself at the State Courts on 17 Sep to serve his sentence.
