Stomper Lau Lup was walking along a pathway of the Punggol Park Connector on Mar 25.

He then noticed something slithering on the ground nearby.

It turned out to be an oriental whip snake.

"I was shocked as it was near me and at my eye level but I did not spot it," said the Stomper.

"It took me a while as I was looking at snails crawling on the ground.

"Luckily it did not attack me."

Oriental whip snakes can grow up to two metres long and are mildly venomous.

However, its venom is too weak to affect humans and they are shy creatures, preferring to slide away into the undergrowth.
