Boy receives 30 stitches from fidget spinner exploding in his face -- after dad sprays compressed air on it

An American boy received 30 stitches after a fidget spinner exploded in his face on Jun 14, 2017, when his father sprayed compressed air across it.

For those unfamiliar, a fidget spinners is a kind of toy that has become popular of late, which features a bearing in the center and a multi-lobed structure which users can place their fingers into, designed to spin along its axis with minimal effort.

Due to its soaring popularity, many netizens have come up with methods to speed up the toy’s spinning capabilities, including spraying compressed air at it.

The concerned parent, John Harris, took to Facebook to voice his distress, warning others about the potential danger of the seemingly innocuous toy.

He wrote:

“I know this post isn’t going to be easy for some to look at, but I felt it was necessary.

“This (the injury) was caused from playing with a fidget spinner and compressed air spraying across it.

“I was holding the spinner and the air hose when it happened.

“We had been playing with it for a while and all of a sudden, the plastic on the spinner exploded.

“We are at the ER now.”

Fortunately though, the shrapnel did not hit the boy’s eyes.

John continued:

“I am sharing this so that no one else will get the same stupid idea that I had.

“We were lucky the pieces missed his eyes.

“It could have been much worse.”

So beware, fans of fidget spinners, the next time you try out something like this.
