A 56-year-old BMW driver was arrested for suspected drink driving on Tuesday night (Jan 11) after he knocked down a pedestrian who had been crossing the road.

In response to a Stomp query, the police said they were alerted to an accident involving a car and a pedestrian at the junction of Sims Avenue East and Jalan Kembangan at around 10.53pm.

The 37-year-old female pedestrian was conscious when conveyed to the hospital and the car driver was arrested for suspected drink-driving.

A video posted by SG Road Vigilante shows the BMW driver making a right turn despite the woman crossing the road halfway and even though the traffic light was not in his favour.

The pedestrian can be seen trying to run out of the car's way but getting knocked down nevertheless.

Police investigations are ongoing.
