Jyu Gae Bistro has finally received payment from the two men who had skipped out on their $289.98 bill on March 11.

The Bras Basah Road bistro posted on Facebook that the bill was settled on Tuesday (April 25), adding: "We would like to express our gratitude to the media for their assistance in spreading the word about this incident, as well as to the public for sharing and supporting us throughout this process."

Stomp first reported the incident on April 14 after being alerted by Stomper Yam, who is the bistro owner.

The post continued: "We also hope that the two men involved in this incident have learned from their actions and will not repeat them in the future.

"Lastly, we would like to extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to the Singapore Police Force for their prompt response and efficient handling of the case. Their professionalism and dedication to keeping our community safe are truly commendable. We are grateful for their efforts in bringing the perpetrators to justice."

The two men, aged 20 and 23, were arrested on April 18 for cheating after they allegedly bailed on bills of over $2,000 at five F&B businesses.

One of them was SMOObar who first posted on Facebook about the dines-and-dashers on April 9. They finally made payment on April 13.

Jyu Gae Bistro posted about the March 11 incident on its Facebook page on April 13, explaining the time gap: "Due to the busy nature of our bistro, we sometimes discover that patrons have skipped out on their bills after a delay."

According to the post, two men had informed bistro staff that they were stepping outside for a smoke break and would be back to settle their bill, but they never returned.

"Initially, we thought that they might have simply forgotten about the bill as we have always believed in giving people the benefit of the doubt and second chances, and waited for them to return to foot their bill," said the post.

"However, we came across a post on SMOObar last night that revealed that these two individuals are habitual offenders who intentionally skip out on their bills."

Jyu Gae Bistro also shared a photo and the names of the two men in question — the very same diners that SMOObar had identified.

Yam told Stomp that the pair had opened a bottle of Roku Gin at her bistro too, which is also what they had ordered at SMOObar.

She said: "It's really terrible. We still thought they would come back to foot the bill.

"I am very upset. We have always believed in giving people a second chance, like maybe they simply forgot to pay but they did it on purpose. And apparently we were not the only ones. We really want to prevent more businesses from falling victim to these scammers."
