Biker dies after accident on AYE near Jalan Boon Lay exit

A 51-year-old Malaysian man died after a motorcycle accident on the Ayer Rajah Expressway near Jalan Boon Lay exit towards Marina Coastal Expressway on Thursday morning (Aug 30).

A video circulating on Facebook shows the victim's body on the road with a coat over it.

A red motorcycle can be seen a few metres away.

Stomp also understands from the video post on Facebook that the victim was Mr Subramaniam P Kolandoi.

According to The Straits Times, his 48-year-old wife, who was riding pillion at the time, fractured her arm as a result of the accident.

Another motorcyclist, a 49-year-old Malaysian man, was also involved in the accident and suffered abrasions.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force told Stomp that they responded to the accident at about 7.40am.

In response to a Stomp media query, the police said: "On Aug 30, at 7.37am, the police were alerted to an accident involving two motorcycles along Ayer Rajah Expressway towards Marina Coastal Expressway near Jalan Boon Lay exit.

"One of the motorcyclists, a 51-year-old man, was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene.

"His pillion rider, a 48-year-old woman, and the other motorcyclist, a 49-year-old man, were conscious when conveyed to National University Hospital.

"Police investigations are ongoing."
