Awning set up at foot of Yishun HDB block where President Halimah Yacob is staying

An awning has been set up at the foot of the HDB block in Yishun where Singapore's new President, Halimah Yacob, is residing.

In a photo posted on All Singapore Stuff, workers can be seen putting up the scaffolding of the white tentage just outside the void deck of the block near a carpark gantry.

Another photo on the same site shows the completed structure with a police car parked underneath it.

According to The Straits Times, this is one of various changes to the estate since her inauguration on Thursday.

63-year-old Halimah Yacob has lived in her jumbo Yishun flat - comprised of a four-room and five-room flat - with her family for more than 30 years.

She plans to continue staying there as she carries out her duties as the eighth President of Singapore.
