A parrot was allegedly stolen from outside HY Unisex Saloon at 416 Ang Mo Kio Ave 10 on Saturday morning (July 2).

An appeal for help to find the bird, which is a species called the lovebird, was posted in the Facebook group Parrots SOS (Lost & Found) Singapore the next day.

Facebook user Joo Shen, who posted the appeal, said she did it on behalf of the owner.

The post said: "The bird was owned by a hair salon and was normally placed outside the salon. The owner always watched the bird closely to ensure its safety. The bird was stolen when he went to the toilet yesterday morning.

"I visited this lovebird weekly to play with her. I am super upset to know about its loss. A very tame bird that would always spread out her wing when she sees me.

"A police report has been made. CCTV showed a non-Chinese short-haired lady in her 50/60s had taken the cage. The cage was later disposed off on the seventh-level lift landing...

"If anyone knows of people around Ang Mo Kio area selling or asking for adoption, do let me know. Thanks a lot. I miss this cutie so so much."

In the comments, Joo Shen added that the CCTV footage was not released to the owner, but it showed the woman climbing up the stairs next to the shop in a rush after taking the cage.

When contacted by Stomp, Joo Shen said: "I have been pasting posters (above) to look for witnesses or leads, and searching nearby block as I believe the lady who stole it should be someone who knows the bird."

In response to a Stomp query, the police confirmed that a report was lodged and investigations are ongoing.
