Animal Lovers League appealing for funds to improve new shelter at Sungei Tengah

After 17 years of calling Pasir Ris Farmway home, the Animal Lovers League has moved to its new shelter located at Sungei Tengah near Choa Chu Kang.

However, one of the organisation's founders, Cathy Strong, says that the shelter leaves much to be desired.

Expressing her personal opinion on the new location, she wrote in a Facebook post that it is "humid and hot" and that the building has "lack of ventilation".

She added that it was "God-forsaken".

"A far cry from the freedom and fresh air and sunshine they have enjoyed for the last 17 years," she wrote.

In order to make life more comfortable for the animals, she hopes to make changes to the area including installing exhaust fans, breaking down walls to give them running space, installing water pipes in each unit and installing wiremesh for the cattery to prevent the cats from escaping.

They were quoted $350,000 by a contractor to carry out the improvements and Cathy said that they are still "sorely short" of their target.
