80 people evacuated after fire breaks out at Marsiling Lane HDB block

Around 80 people were evacuated by the police after a fire broke out at Block 13 Marsiling Lane on Thursday afternoon (Sep 23).

A Stomper alerted Stomp to the incident and shared videos and photos of smoke coming from one of the block's units.

In response to a Stomp query, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was alerted to the fire at 5.45pm.

"The fire involved the contents of a utility room in a unit on the seventh floor," an SCDF spokesman said.

The fire was extinguished using a water jet.

Five people had self-evacuated prior to SCDF's arrival.

They were all assessed for minor injuries and refused conveyance to the hospital.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
