The body of a 75-year-old man was found in the Kallang River yesterday (Oct 1).
In response to a Stomp query, the police said that they received a call for assistance at 5.31pm.
Officers from the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) were then dispatched to the scene and pronounced the man dead after retrieving his body from the water.
Said a spokesman from the SCDF in response to a Stomp query:
"At around 530, SCDF responded to a case of a reported missing person at the Kallang River near One Kallang Place.
"Upon arrival, SCDF conducted a surface search.
"Two Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team divers also searched the area and found the man about five metres from the river bank.
"He was pronounced dead by a paramedic at the scene."
Police are investigating the unnatural death.
