7 arrested in Ang Mo Kio for illegal horse betting and gambling activities

Six men and one woman, aged between 30 and 72, are under police investigation for their suspected involvement in illegal horse betting and remote gambling activities.

Officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division had conducted enforcement operations along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 4 on Saturday (Sep 25).

A 30-year-old man was arrested for his suspected involvement as a bookmaker and a 49-year-old woman was arrested for her suspected involvement in providing unlawful remote gambling services.

The police added: "Another five men, aged between 43 and 72, were arrested for allegedly betting with a bookmaker and gambling using remote gambling services."

During the operation, more than $8,900 worth of cash, five mobile phones and gambling-related paraphernalia were seized.

Investigations are ongoing.

The police said they take a serious view against all forms of illegal gambling activities, and will continue to take tough enforcement actions and prosecute those involved in accordance with the law.

"Members of the public are advised against engaging in any forms of illegal gambling activity," they added.
