6 men nabbed for illegal gambling activities along Marsiling Lane

Six Singaporean men, aged between 52 and 70, were arrested in an enforcement operation targeting illegal gambling activities along Marsiling Lane on Sunday (June 14).

During the operation conducted by Woodlands Police Division, the men were arrested for illegal bookmaking and punting under the Betting Act.

Cash amounting to more than $1,600, a mobile phone and gambling-related paraphernalia were seized, said police in a statement on Monday (June 15).

Investigations are ongoing.

The men are also being investigated for breaching safe distancing measures under the COVID-19 (Temporary Measures) (Control Order) Regulations 2020.

The police said they will "continue to clamp down on criminal activities, including illegal gambling" and that "those found engaging in such activities will be dealt with sternly in accordance with the law."

Members of the public are also advised to take circuit breaker measures seriously.
