In response to a Stomp media query, the police said they received a call for assistance at Block 82 Commonwealth Close at about 6.05pm.

"A 56-year-old man was subsequently arrested under the mental health act," a spokesman said.

Stomp understands that the man had allegedly blocked a driver from parking in a lot at the multi-storey carpark.

He accused the driver of following him but the driver said he was not.

The man was holding onto something with a black handle of an object the driver thought was a knife but was later unable to confirm this.

A dispute ensued and when the police were called in, the man fled the carpark before he was arrested.

Police investigations are ongoing.
