About 50 people were evacuated after a fire broke out in a HDB flat at Block 48 Stirling Road on Monday night (Oct 17).

Stomper Reena alerted Stomp to the incident and shared photos and videos she took.

"The police and Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) came very fast," she said.

"Thank you for your fast response."

In response to a Stomp query, SCDF said they were alerted to the fire at 9.40pm.

"The fire involved the contents of a living room in a 5th floor unit," an SCDF spokesman said.

"SCDF extinguished the fire using a water jet.

"Three persons were assessed by a SCDF paramedic for smoke inhalation and all three persons refused conveyance to the hospital.

"SCDF evacuated 20 people from the affected block.

"About 30 persons self-evacuated prior to SCDF's arrival."

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
