5 women arrested for advertising sexual services online and carrying out vice activities

Five women, aged between 21 and 37, were arrested during an enforcement operation against vice activities on Jan 14 along Rangoon Road, Stamford Road and Victoria Street.

The women, who were nabbed for offences under the Women’s Charter, are believed to have advertised their sexual services online and carried out the vice activities in hotels and apartments.

Investigations are ongoing.

Landlords and hotel owners are advised to ensure that tenants do not carry out vice activities in their premises.

Unlicensed brothel operators can be fined up to $10,000 and/or jailed up to five years.

Any person who knowingly lives wholly or in part on the earnings of the prostitution of another person can be jailed up to five years and fined up to $10,000.

The police will continue to take tough enforcement action against criminal activities, they said in a statement.

Those found engaging in such activities will be dealt with sternly in accordance with the law.
