A 46-year-old man has been arrested for his suspected involvement in a case of mischief by fire.
Stomper MsOz alerted Stomp to the incident and shared photos and a video of police and Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) vehicles along Geylang Bahru on Sunday night (Feb 6).
The SCDF told Stomp they were alerted to a fire at Block 72 Geylang Bahru at 9.05pm.
"The fire involved contents of a room in a unit on the first floor," an SCDF spokesman said.
The fire was extinguished by SCDF using a compressed air foam backpack and a fire extinguisher.
There were no reported injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
The police said in a statement they received a call for assistance at 9.07pm.
"Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from police cameras, the man was arrested on Feb 7 at about 1.40am," the police said.
The offence of mischief by fire carries a jail term of up to seven years and a fine.
