A 45-year-old man was arrested for suspected drink-driving along Tanjong Katong Road on Aug 10.

Stomp understands that an illegal u-turn made by the man had almost caused a police vehicle to collide into him, but the latter vehicle applied the brakes in time.

The man was then stopped by the police and after interviewing him, the police did a breathalyzer test on him as he reeked of alcohol.

At some point during the interview, the driver was also uncooperative, raising his arm and shouting in Mandarin.

Stomper Shane was having a smoking break at about 9.30pm outside one of the bistros when he saw the incident.

He said: "I saw the guy going towards Paya Lebar Road and he made an illegal u-turn, and just nice behind got a group of police officers.

"I stood there the whole time to watch as the police talked to the guy. The guy was also quite unwilling to cooperate initially but after that, he just did as told.

"The guy did not look so well so the police stopped him and did a Breathalyzer test on him."

In response to a Stomp query, the police said that it was alerted to a case of drink-driving involving a car along Tanjong Katong Road at 9.43pm.

The driver, a 45-year-old man, was subsequently arrested for suspected drink-driving.

No injuries were reported and police investigations are ongoing.
