4-year-old girl sent to hospital after her foot gets stuck in White Sands mall escalator

A 4-year-old girl was conveyed to hospital after her foot got stuck in an escalator at White Sands shopping mall last night (Aug 11).

The incident happened at around 9.30pm and the girl's foot got trapped in the escalator that was descending from level two to level one of the mall.

A video of the incident was captured by a crew member from SBS - Sure Boh Singapore and posted on their Facebook page.

In the video, Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) officer are at the scene.

One officer is carrying the girl down the escalator followed closely behind by a woman believed to be the girl's mother.

One shoe appears to be missing from the girl's right foot.

The officers and the girl's family are then seen tending to the girl on the first level of the mall.

In response to Stomp's media queries, an SCDF spokesman said:

"SCDF received a call for assistance at White Sands mall at around 9.30pm last night (Aug 11).

"SCDF dispatched one fire engine, two fire bikes, one red rhino and one ambulance to the scene.

"A Chinese female child was rescued by SCDF personnel and was conveyed to KK Women's and Children's Hospital."
