33 men arrested for illegal horse betting activities, cash of around $9,000 seized

Thirty-three men, aged between 28 and 81, were nabbed during an enforcement operation against illegal horse betting activities on Wednesday (June 3).

The operation was conducted at multiple locations including Jalan Kukoh, Bukit Merah, Toa Payoh, Ang Mo Kio, Eunos Crescent, Boon Lay Place and Marsiling Road, said the police.

Cash of around $9,003.80, and gambling-related paraphernalia were seized during the operation.

The 33 men were arrested for offences under the Betting Act and Remote Gambling Act 2014 and investigations are ongoing.

They are also being investigated for breaching safe distancing measures under the COVID-19 (Temporary Measures) (Control Order) Regulations 2020.

The police said they will continue to clamp down on criminal activities, including illegal gambling and advised members of the public to "steer clear of all forms of illegal gambling".

"Those found engaging in such activities will be dealt sternly in accordance with the law," they added.
