30-year-old man arrested for attempting to steal motorcycle at Ubi

A 30-year-old man was arrested for attempting to steal a motorcycle at Block 348 Ubi Avenue 1.

The police said in a statement that they received a report on Feb 12 that a man had attempted to steal a motorcycle before fleeing.

Officers from Bedok Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on the same day.

If convicted, the man will face up to seven years' jail and shall also be liable to a fine.

The police want to advise all motorcycle owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  • Park your motorcycle in well-lit areas;
  • Install an anti-theft alarm for your motorcycle;
  • Use a motorcycle canvas to cover the motorcycle, securing both ends; 
  • Use additional locking devices such as disc brake locks or install a suspension guard; and
  • Remove the ignition key and lock the motorcycle, whenever it is left unattended.
