30-year-old man arrested for allegedly molesting woman at People's Park Centre

A 30-year-old man who allegedly molested a woman at People’s Park Centre was arrested within five hours on Wednesday (May 3).

The police said they received a report about the incident at around 11.35am.

Through follow-up investigations and with the aid of images from police cameras, officers from Public Transport Security Command and Central Police Division established the man's identity and arrested him.

The man will be charged in court on Friday with one count of outrage of modesty, which carries a jail term of up to three years, a fine, caning, or any combination of such punishments.

The police said they have zero tolerance towards sexual offenders who threaten the safety of the community and offenders will be dealt with sternly in accordance with the law.

Members of the public are urged to remain vigilant and report to the police immediately if they witness an incident of outrage of modesty or are aware of someone being a victim of outrage of modesty.
