3 teens arrested for attempting to break into stores at Serangoon Rd

Three men aged between 17 and 19 were arrested for their suspected involvement in three cases of attempted housebreaking and theft by night along Serangoon Road, the police said in a statement.

The police received a report on Mar 11 at 5.18pm that the roller shutters of a jewellery shop along Serangoon Road were found damaged with some burn marks.

A few oxygen-ethylene tanks with blowtorch, gloves, cap, mask and some house-breaking implements were also found near the area.

On the same day, two other similar reports of burn marks discovered on doors of a goldsmith and an apparel shop were received.

The police arrested the three men along Jelapang Road, Boon Lay and Circuit Road in an operation conducted between 6pm on Mar 11 and 2am on Mar 12.

If found guilty, the men may face a jail term of two to 14 years.
