3 residents suffer smoke inhalation after fire breaks out in Lorong Ah Soo flat

A fire broke out in a second-storey unit of Block 142 Lorong Ah Soo at about 1.30pm on Saturday (Jul 21).

Stomper Banny, a resident of Block 144, said he was parking his car when he chanced upon the incident.

He said: "There were more than 20 people crowding around.

"The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) arrived about 10 minutes after the fire started."

In response to a Stomp query, the SCDF said that it was alerted to a fire at about 1.30pm.

"The fire involved contents of a kitchen and was extinguished by SCDF with one water jet," said the spokesman.

"Three residents complained of smoke inhalation and were assessed by paramedics. They did not want to be conveyed to a hospital.

"The cause of the fire is under investigation."
