3 residents evacuated after fire involving e-bike breaks out at Clementi HDB

Three residents were evacuated after a fire involving an electrical bike broke out at Block 715 Clementi West Street 2 on Thursday afternoon (Dec 5).

The Singapore Civil Defence Force said in a Facebook post that they responded to the fire outside a 14th-floor unit at about 12.45pm, where it was extinguished with one water jet.

Photos show that the walls outside the unit were covered in black soot as an e-bike sat directly opposite the unit's front door.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the fire was of electrical orgin from the e-bike which was charging along the common corridor at the time of the fire.

No injuries were reported.

The SCDF also shared some fire safety tips for personal mobility devices and power-assisted bicycles.
