Three assailants who killed five people and injured another five were gunned down by police in Xinjiang, China on Tuesday (Feb 13).
Authorities confirmed that an attack had taken place in a short statement issued, and added that ‘social order’ has been restored, following the incident perpetrated by the three ‘thugs’, reports Shanghaiist.
So far, no motives or additional information have been given with regards to the attack, but the government has attributed the attack to separatist groups.
Such incidents of violence are not unheard of in Xinjiang.
