A 28-year-old police officer was found dead with a gunshot wound to his head at Yishun North Neighbourhood Police Centre (NPC) on Sunday evening (June 16).
The officer, a police sergeant, had reported for duty at 7.30pm that day and drawn his service pistol from the armoury.
He was later found alone with a gunshot wound to his head at the rest area of the NPC at around 9.30pm with the pistol beside him.
The office was unconscious when taken to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, where he succumbed to his injury at 10.26pm.
The Criminal Investigation Department is investigating the unnatural death, said the police in a statement on Monday (June 17).
No foul play is suspected.
The police are assisting the family in their time of grief.
