A 26-year-old man was arrested after allegedly stealing four tins of milk powder from a supermarket along Ang Mo Kio Street 31 on Friday (March 12).
The police said they received a report about the incident at around 3.15pm.
Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from CCTV footages, officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division established the man's identity and arrested him on the same day within six hours of the report.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the man is believed to be involved in other similar cases of shop theft reported island-wide and allegedly profited from the sale of the stolen tins of milk powder.
The four tins of milk powder were recovered.
The man was charged in court on Saturday with theft in dwelling, which carries a jail term of up to seven years and a fine.
