A 23-year-old motorcyclist was taken to hospital after an accident with a van at the junction of Upper Serangoon Road and Braddell Road on Saturday morning (Apr 18).

Stomper Jacqist, a friend of the victim, said they had both been en route to deliver food orders for Deliveroo at around 11am when the accident occurred.

Jacqist told Stomp: "My friend was going to a customer in Potong Pasir while my customer was in Toa Payoh. He got into an accident and collided with the left side of a van."

The Stomper, who shared photos showing the victim lying on the road, said that many motorists stopped to help.

Jacqist added: "I had to rush off to continue my delivery.

"My friend is injured and is still in hospital as of Monday (Apr 20).

Responding to a Stomp query, the police said they were alerted to the accident at 10.56am.

"The 23-year-old male motorcyclist was conveyed conscious to Raffles Hospital," said a police spokesman, adding that investigations are ongoing.

A Deliveroo spokesman told Stomp: "This is a tragic incident and our thoughts are with the affected rider, his family and friends.

"We have been in touch with the rider, who has been discharged from the hospital and is on the road to recovery.

"Deliveroo is committed to providing a safe environment for both our riders and the wider community. We offer this insurance to every Deliveroo rider on the road, covering their personal medical expenses and third-party liability insurance claims in the event of an accident, completely free of charge.

"We have shared these details on Deliveroo’s accident and injury insurance policy with him, and have also initiated the insurance claim process for him."
