21-year-old man allegedly attacked dad with sharp object, leaving him with multiple injuries

A 21-year-old man was arrested for allegedly attacking his 41-year-old father with a sharp object during a dispute along Commonwealth Avenue West.

The police said they were alerted to the case of voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous means on Monday night (May 10), at around 11.20pm.

The 41-year-old man suffered multiple injuries and was conscious when taken to hospital. His son had left the scene before police’s arrival.

"Preliminary investigations revealed that both men supposedly had a dispute before the incident," police said in a statement on Wednesday.

Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from police cameras, officers from Clementi Police Division and Jurong Police Division established the suspect's whereabouts and arrested him within four hours of the reported crime.

The man will be charged in court on Wednesday for voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous means, which carries a jail term of up seven years and/or a fine and/or caning.
