$200 cash, pills seized from man who allegedly stole from woman at Toa Payoh supermarket

A 54-year-old man who allegedly stole from a woman at a supermarket at Block 4, Lorong 7 Toa Payoh, has been arrested for suspected theft.

The police received a report from the victim on May 7 at around 11.30pm, about how the money had been stolen from her bag.

Through follow-up investigations and with the aid of CCTV footages, officers from Tanglin Police Division established the suspect's identity.

He was arrested within 12 hours along Lorong 7 Toa Payoh on May 8.

"Cash amounting to over S$200 and some powdery substance and pills were seized from the suspect," said the police in a statement.

Investigations are ongoing.

If found guilty of theft, the suspect is liable to a jail term of up to three years and/or a fine.
