Two passengers fell in a bus after the bus captain was forced to jam on the bus's brakes to avoid a collision with a car that cut in front of him in Choa Chu Kang.

A Stomper alerted Stomp to the incident after noticing a commotion happening on board a bus near her home.

Shortly afterwards, an ambulance and police car arrived on the scene and a woman was seen being helped onto a stretcher.

In response to a Stomp query, Mr Vincent Gay, deputy managing director of SMRT Buses said bus service 301 was travelling along Choa Chu Kang Avenue 3 on the left lane on Apr 16 at about 9pm when the incident happened.

A car on the right suddenly cut into the path in front of the bus, he said.

"Our bus captain applied the brakes immediately to avoid a collision.

"As a result, two commuters on the bus fell."

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) told Stomp they were alerted to an incident at the junction of Choa Chu Kang Avenue 3 and Choa Chu Kang Terrace at about 9pm.

SCDF conveyed one person conscious to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital while the other was assessed for minor injuries by a paramedic and declined to be sent to hospital.

"The remaining 15 commuters were transferred safely to another bus," Mr Gay said.

"We are assisting the police with their investigations."

In response to a Stomp query, the police said they were alerted to an accident at 9.01pm.

"A 77-year-old female bus passenger was conveyed conscious to the hospital," a police spokesman said.

Police investigations are ongoing.
