2 men arrested for allegedly stealing $2,000 cash and 3 handphones from car parked in Geylang

Two men, aged 36 and 60, have been arrested for their suspected involvement in a series of theft from motor vehicles cases. 

At about 7.45am on Oct 23, the police received a report that three mobile phones and cash amounting to $2,000 was stolen from a vehicle parked along Lorong 23 Geylang.

With enquiries and images from closed-circuit television, officers from Bedok Police Division identified two men and arrested them on Tuesday (Nov 5).

Preliminary investigations revealed that both men are believed to be involved in similar cases in the vicinity of Geylang.

Both men will be charged in court on Nov 7 with theft with common intention.

If convicted, they will face a jail term of up to three years and/or a fine. 

The police would like to advise all vehicle owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  • Park your vehicle in well-lit areas
  • Install an anti-theft alarm system and ensure it is well-maintained
  • Remove cash cards, keys and other valuables before leaving the vehicle
  • Wind up all windows and lock all doors of the vehicle
