2 dead and 1 injured in Bukit Timah Road accident: Video shows van speeding

A video circulating online shows a van speeding before getting into an accident that left two men dead and one injured along Bukit Timah Road on Saturday morning (Oct 20).

The van is believed to have skidded and crashed into a tree near KK Women's and Children's Hospital at around 3am.

Two passengers, aged 25 and 42, were pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics while the 25-year-old driver suffered an open wound on his left knee.

The driver was taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital and subsequently arrested for causing death by a rash act, police told Stomp.

A Facebook video posted by the SG Road Vigilante page on Sunday (Oct 21) shows how the van had been travelling at high speed on the leftmost lane.

Moments later, the van is seen to have crashed and mounted a pavement.

Stompers previously shared videos showing the visibly smashed van.

Shin Min Daily News reported that the three men were friends who had just celebrated the driver’s birthday.

According to the report, the two passengers were private hire car drivers and the elder man was the godfather of the younger one.

Police investigations are ongoing.
