2 bubble tea products recalled after dehydroacetic acid detected, food safety risk low

Two bubble tea products are being recalled after the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) detected dehydroacetic acid in them, said SFA on Saturday (Dec 17).

They are Xiang Piao Piao Muscovado Sugar Mix (Bubble and Red Bean) Milk Tea, with the batch number HZ04L18413 20220926, and Matcha Mix (Bubble and Raisin) Milk Tea, with the batch number HZ04L18414 20220926.

SFA directed the importer, Green Olive Group, to recall the implicated products, which are from China. The recall is ongoing.

Dehydroacetic acid is not a permitted food additive under Singapore Food Regulations.

The food safety risk associated with consumption of the implicated products is low.

Nonetheless, consumers who have purchased the implicated products and have concerns about their health should not consume it. Consumers may contact their point of purchase for enquiries.
